On 12th September 2015, the UIBC awarded this years special prices during the Gala Dinner at the Hofbräuhaus in Munich (Germany).
Mr. Håkan Johansson from Sweden was awarded “World Baker of the Year 2015” while Mr. Bernd Siefert from Germany received the award “World Confectioner of the Year 2015”.
Every year, since 2011, the UIBC awards the distinctions “World Baker” and “World Confectioner” to special professionals in our sector, whose outstanding work benefits all bakers and confectioners in the world.
In recent years, the awards have been given to personalities who had worked both in their home countries USA, Poland, Spain, Japan and Holland, and within the UIBC organisation for the global bakers and confectioners communities.
Candidates of the awards must be active and independent professionals, with their own bakery-confectionery-cafe, who have gone through professional vocational training as a baker and/or confectioner, and can demonstrate successful participation in competitions, marketing activities and innovative activities.
The UIBC World Bakers and World Confectioners represent the UIBC at public appearances and activities, particularly during the year of their award, and for the Gala Dinner with the Award Ceremony, they prepare an exhibition of showpieces and bring a special product creation for this event which is tasted by the guests, like bread, chocolates or a dessert.
