On September 14th, 2011, the Secretary-Generals of the National Federations of Germany, Denmark, France and Spain met in the Berlin office of CEBP (the European Confederation of Bakers and Confectionery Organizations) in order to define the future strategy of their entity.
The participants of the meeting analyzed the strategies to be carried out in order to achieve that CEBP strengthens its lobbying role in Brussels, improves the information and communication with its members, and develops promotion campaigns for bread consumption in the EU, with the support of the European Commission.
They also spoke about the measures to be taken to induce the Bakery Federations of the countries that recently joined the European Union to join the CEBP, which is proving to be anything but easy as the major model of bakeries in those countries used to be huge industrial plants owned by the state, and only now there are starting to appear privately owned small and medium-size bakeries.
